This extraordinary bass series is the result of the great collaboration between Richard Bona and Marco De Virgiliis who respected the fundamental principle they shared: they do not accept compromises. 
Richard is one of the most highly regarded and respected musicians in the world and from the very beginning on this project he said he would never put his name (and his fingers too) on an instrument that doesn't deliver the highest. quality standards. 
The Kimandu basses have the same charm, design and philosophy as the Kilimanjaro hi-end series products, the same main features have been kept but the manufacturing process has been optimized which allows for this incredible price. 
The MB Instrument Pre was created after extensive testing and built with the best components on the market. 
Markbass has concentrated all its know-how in this ultra-compact circuit and has chosen the right frequencies for the best sound reproduction. 
Its tone control circuitry has been designed not only to enhance these frequencies but also to give a unique and rich response when boosted and cut, always delivering a very clean and focused bass sound without losing detail. 
Additionally, the circuits have been developed to offer fairly subtle volume differences when switching from passive to active and back - a feature much appreciated by all players. It offers a wide range of wiring / application options and operates on 9V or 18V, with very low power consumption.

The Kimandu bass features a Markbass custom electronic as well, simple, intuitive and effective even on extreme settings.

Controls are VOLUME/VOLUME/TONE (with an active/passive switch on Tone) letting an incredible pickups blending capability compared to a regular Blend control and with active BASS/MID/TREBLE… so you’re not gonna have resounding bass or blowing treble. The frequency values have been chosen to offer a wide range of tones that you can use on any setting. The TONE control (working also in the passive mode) has been defined by Richard as the “G Point” because of its accurate efficacy letting to move from smooth and warm tones to bright and hi-fi ones, everything in a one of a kind “sensual” way.
